Radiovisiography is one of the most common ways of examining the oral cavity, used to identify various pathologies and to confirm a medical opinion. Vishnyak Dental Clinic pays particular attention to high-quality diagnostic procedures.

A periapical X-ray is taken with a special device — a radiovisiograph — that captures images of the teeth on a dedicated sensor and transmits them to a computer. It is completely safe for human health thanks to its low radiation level.

Radiovisiography is a method that makes it possible to detect hidden inflammatory processes that cannot be identified during a routine dental examination, to confirm a suspected diagnosis and to select the most effective treatment. This type of examination is advisable for procedures such as tooth-structure restoration, fillings and others.

X-ray imaging is needed for:

  • caries — to reveal the affected area (even under a filling or prosthesis);
  • root-canal treatment (when the roots and canals need to be assessed);
  • granulomatous inflammation and growths;
  • abnormalities in the structure of the dental arch;
  • monitoring of treatment;
  • surgical intervention involving tooth extraction.

The innovative, modern equipment is completely safe. It can be used during pregnancy and for children.

Advantages of the radiovisiograph

  • low radiation, which is undoubtedly good for the patient’s health;
  • the resulting images are accurate and high-quality;
  • electronic storage of the images;
  • the ability to magnify the image to study even the smallest details of inflammation.

Despite all its advantages, the periapical X-ray also has some limitations. Unfortunately, it is not universal: the area examined is limited to just one or two teeth. So in larger-scale cases an orthopantomogram or computed tomography is required. Examination by the clinic specialists is carried out only after a preliminary check-up and an initial diagnosis.
